Year Ring

Additive manufacturing by raser cutter characterized in cross sections by thin wood lamination, different from objects made by a conventional method like metallic molding or cutting modeling.

Focused on a way of lamination, Toshihiro Terai tried to transform expression of section and surface by changing cutting direction of a 3D model and made some products with complex and varied expression.

レーザー加工機を用いての積層造形物は、金型による成形や切削による造形など従来の手法とは違い、細かく分割された材の積層が見せる断面に特徴がある。積層の方法に着目し、積層の方向を垂直から傾けて断面と表面の見え方を変化させることで、今までにない新しい表情を持つプロダクトのデザインを行なった。
